गर्भवती महिला, पहिलो प्राथमिकता

Pregnant women are the first priority.

From pregnancy through the postpartum period, we work to create safer, more supportive experiences for mothers in communities, public spaces and services.

Why we exist

Pregnancy should never mean facing the world alone.

Pregnancy is one of the most vulnerable phases in a woman's life, yet it is also a time when she is expected to keep moving through the same world, spaces and systems as before.

During pregnancy and the postpartum period, women may need more care, understanding and support. Yet everyday experiences, from travelling in public transport to accessing health and public services, can still be uncomfortable, unsafe or difficult. These challenges can be even greater for women who have fewer resources, limited support or face barriers in accessing essential services.

Aama Surakshya Nepal exists to make motherhood a safer, more dignified and more supported experience. Our work begins with a simple belief:

Every mother deserves to feel safe, respected and supported.

Our vision

Making space for mothers.

We imagine a Nepal where maternal care does not stop at the hospital door.

We want to see mother-friendly change in communities and public spaces across Nepal, where pregnant women are not expected to simply adjust to systems that were never designed for them.

Where public transport is more supportive. Where services are designed with mothers in mind. Where communities know how to care. Where institutions listen. And where being pregnant means being supported, wherever you are.
What we do

Four ways we make pregnancy safer.

Care

Supporting women and families through pregnancy and early motherhood.

Awareness

Building knowledge around maternal health, wellbeing and supportive caregiving.

Mother-friendly environments

Making public spaces, services and everyday experiences more supportive for mothers and babies.

Advocacy & systems change

Working with communities, institutions and governments to create lasting change for mothers.

How we create change

Change begins by listening.

1

Listen

We listen to pregnant women and understand what makes pregnancy difficult in everyday life.

2

Understand

We work with communities, health professionals and institutions to understand the barriers.

3

Act

We create practical responses that can improve women's experiences.

4

Advocate

We take learning from communities into conversations with institutions and local governments.

5

Grow

We build partnerships so good approaches can reach more women and more places.

Our work in action

Small changes. Bigger possibilities.

Our work goes beyond awareness. We work with women, families, communities, service providers and institutions to turn maternal health needs into practical support and lasting change.
